RAPE-A terrible reality destroying the life of innocent children. It affects mostly emotions and sexual relationship backgrounds. Being a child most of them do not realize that they have been abused and that it should be reported.
Pregnant? Of your own father? Dramatic, sad, pity, disgusting…. Few words to describe the situation of these “baby girls”…And the to be born baby??? His mom is at the same time his sister and his father his grand father. He will not be psychologically stable… what to do then? Abortion? - It’s illegal in Mauritius! Suicide? - Ending two innocent lives for a criminal? Or leave with this burden?
I think that in this case, abortion should be legalized and that these little moms’s should be assisted psychologically their whole life….. Support them, don't judge them!

Abortion – we all have our own perceptions and views on it. Well, I do believe that abortion is equivalent to a murder and would welcome any kind of alternative solution to this issue. But if it is related to rape, of course the whole scenario changes. In my opinion, I think our government and other related actors should enforce laws and obligations related to the protection of our citizens, offenders responsible for all forms of abominations against women have to be dragged to the court of Law and be punished severely. Stakeholders should set up appropriate action plans to re-integrate and ascertain that the programmes to rehabilitate the victims achieve set targets and standards. Our security and protection should be considered as a priority in any comprehensive strategy.
ReplyDeleteI not only understand your opinion but I also share your views on this issue. These girls should be assisted instead of being stigmatised. Their identities must not be revealed to the general public. So, newspapers need to stop publishing articles on these issues with personal information, photos of the victims.
ReplyDeleteI feel that in cases where young girls are victim of rape, they should be given the chance to abort the child because they still have their whole future ahead of them and they should not be punished for the deeds of vile individuals.
